The two way switch of the below IKEA power screwdriver has become faulty. It intermittently doesn't work when pressed.

The problem is the the spring action of the switch has reduced due to usage, so the connection fails when pressed.

Carefully use a screwdriver to pry open the metal part from the plastic. The inside will look like below. There are two small metal plates for contact, be careful not to misplace them.

 

The metal part has a small metal rod which has the spring action. Remove it and it looks like below

Put a small paper ball into the hole shown above with the red circle. Assemble everything back. Carefully place the small metal plates shown in the picture above correctly. It might take you a few attempts to get assemble the switch correctly.

Done, this will extend the life of your switch without replacing it.
